Breathe in the holy vibes of Omkareshwar, the place where the radiant sign of the almighty resides. Omkareshwar, a hindu temple, worships lord Shiva. You can enjoy the melody of temple bells, the view of holy Narmada and the divinity of lord Shiva at Omkareshwar.

  1. Omkareshwar temple jyotirlinga: it is one of the 12 revered Jyotirlinga shrines of Shiva having a spectacular view of Narmada from the temple.
  2. Mamleshwar Jyotirlinga: famous for its incredible architectural stone work.
  3. Omkareshwar Parikrama: an “OM” shaped path of about 11 km involving small temples and ashrams.
  4. Ahilya Ghat: boat ride and a holy dip in Narmada.
  5. 24 Avatars in Omkareshwar: a group of Hindu and Jain temples, beautifully crafted and built with unique methods of architecture.

There are many more temples, holding their own significance like Satmatrika Temples, Gauri Somnath Temple, Kajal Rani Cave, and Omkar Mandhata Temple etc.

About the locals: The people of Omkareshwar hold all their rituals very close to their hearts. They are involved in early morning as well as evening poojas almost every day. These poojas are not to be missed if you truly want to be blessed by the lord and the beauty of the pooja itself. You would easily get to know about the timings of these poojas once you are there.

Travel tips

 

The best months to visit Omkareshwar are September to March, as the weather conditions are in your favor. If you can plan it that way, you should try to attend the festival of Maha Shivaratri between February and March. It would make your trip to Omkareshwar, an unforgettable journey of worship.
