95 kilometres from Indore, Maheshwar, an old and picturesque little town on the banks of Narmada, is an important pilgrimage destination, and thousands of people visit the town for this reason. On the river banks, you can see the daily customs, practices, quaint culture and religious life of the local people, the Stone memorials of the satis of Maheshwar, who perished on the funeral pyres of their husbands. One of the oldest co-educational boarding schools in the world, Daly College, located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, was founded by Sir Henry Daly of the British Indian Army during India's colonial British Raj.The institution was named as the Residency School in 1870, then renamed as the Rajkumar College in 1876, and in 1882, it came to be known as The Daly College. The Lohani caves in Mandu are excavations, some of which bear inscriptions; it is likely they were excavated in about the eleventh or twelfth century A.D. A rock-cut cistern is located on the front. Their premises were once filled with debris, which, when cleared, yielded beautiful sculptures. They also have a few rock-cut cells meant primarily for residents, perhaps of the Saiva Jogis.

Jama Masjid in Burhanpur is one of the most famous buildings constructed during Farooqi rule in India. During 1421, when most of the population of Burhanpur lived to the north, Azam Humayum built the Jama Masjid in Etwara called the Bibi Ki masjid. But soon with the growth of the city, ruler Adil Shah built the present Jama Masjid in the centre of the town, easily accessible to all the people living in Burhanpur. The foundation of the present Jama Masjid was laid in 1590. After hard work round the clock for five years, this Masjid was completed in 1595. This Masjid is similar to the Jama Masjid in Delhi.

Siddhnath Temple is on a plateau on the island hill supported by a huge plinth, in Omkareshwar. It is a classic example of early medieval Brahminic architecture. It was declared a protected ancient monument by Lord Curzon and is one of the most inspiring temples in Central India from architectural point of view! The most attractive feature of the temple is the wall paintings of elephants, over 1.5 m high, carved on a stone slab at its outer boundary, the 24 Avatars, a group of Hindu and Jain temples and the huge Nandi Bull (the vehicle of Lord Shiva) - carved on the hillside opposite the temple of Gauri Somnath.

Hoshang Shah was the first formally appointed Islamic king of the Malwa region of Central India and has significant position in the history of India. Hoshang Shah Tomb bears marble construction in honor of Hoshang Shah. It is the first marble structure of India. The Architecture of tomb bears complex marble lattice work, a well defined dome, courts with massive porticos and big towers to define the shape of the rectangle. The tomb of Hoshang Shah was constructed in the 15th century. It displays wonderful Afgan art and architecture; the creative decoration on the southern doorway has blue enamel stars and lotus.The tomb was so elegent and beautiful that it enchanted Shah Jahan and he sent four of his architects to Mandu, before construction of Taj Mahal.

Saiyedi Abdul Qadir Hakimuddin is the holy Dawoodi Bohra saint who is buried in Burhanpur, India. His grave is visited by pilgrims from all over the world.
