About the Locals: The people of Bhind follow a relatively simple lifestyle; dominated by Hindus (Brahmins and Kshatriyas) the local cuisines are mainly vegetarian. Festivals like Holi and Diwali are celebrated with much fervor and the entire district comes alive during these festivities.

Sightseeing: Along with its natural prowess Bhind wins you over with its beautiful Ancient Architecture. Learn more about Bhind’s rich historical past at Ater Fort (35km west) built in 16th Century by the Bhadoriya Kings. If you have a taste for Adventure then your trip to Bhind is incomplete without a visit to once a Dacoit Sanctuary, the extensive Ravines of Bhind. With more time on your hands you must visit the Chhatris at Alampur, National Chambal Wildlife Sanctuary on the banks of River Chambal, Rawatpura Dham and Sanakua waterfall (55 km from Bhind on Mau road).

Being a developing region, Bhind does not offer high end luxurious accommodation facilities, but Standard budget friendly accommodations are easily available here. Regency Resorts (Malanpur) offers a comfortable stay with a very pleasant ambience.

Places to Eat

A trip to Bhimbetka caves won’t leave you hungry, if you eat before leaving the place you are staying at. You can definitely explore roadside eateries, but on a safer side it is recommended to eat where you are staying and then go out on the road to enjoy your trip.

Travel tips

The best time to visit Bhind is from October to February.

The nearest airport is at Gwalior, while Bhind has its own railhead and a well connected Bus network.

-Transportation to and from Ater Fort is available from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Buses and jeeps are available from Ater Road Bus Stand)
