A Rare Gem in the Heart of India!

18 June, 2016

“I am a living being and I have the right to be treated with dignity” so, they must have pleaded, they must have begged, but sadly they cannot speak, and you have been treating them “inhumanly”, funny that word. What do you think we must call it? Animal rights or human responsibility? We’ve been cashing in on these innocent creatures since time immemorial, by the means of circus, or by selling them. In the past few decades a menacing shift towards taking in “sophisticated” breed of animals as household pets has been observed. What’s saddening is, that “owning” an exotic breed of dogs is considered to be fancy. Stray animals have lost their rights to have a home, a family and a dignified life, animals have become a part of “decoration” in huge mansions and stray dogs or cats do not fit into the general human picture of “decoration”. Humans have so easily changed the course of nature for their well being that it conflicts the lives of several other species leading to a mass extinctions of species.

But, she was petrified by the experience and so she filed a complaint with the local municipal corporation and the dogs were fed poisonous biscuits and killed. I can only think of a single thing and that is that people have forgotten to look at animals with a compassionate eye. Their life means nothing to people. And in this darkened time of ignorance there are very few who actually care and want to do something about the situation of the stray animals.

Animal and Bird Welfare Society has been working for the same cause for about 13 years now, it was first started in 2003 and the group has been a constant help for animals who have been through an accident or abused.

Sapna Chaurasia has been single handedly taking care of animals and their rights as living beings, she started the organisation with a vision to help the stray animals who are often beaten up on the streets – abused, abandoned. The organisation runs by the help of volunteers, and donations made by various groups and philanthropists. The organisation has been facing a lot of trouble with the temporary nature of volunteers and scarcity of funding to feed and buy these innocent creatures a better life.

Worthy of applaud for its practices to bring upon a change and it can only be brought if living beings act more responsibly towards those of us who need help, animals need the help of the human species to survive, and this is time that we give back to our nature. The universe wasn’t made solely for humans but animals too and its time we realise their worth. That sounds funny. To put in the right way- It is their home, that we are destroying! Because there is nothing humane about humans abusing animals, just like nothing is ethical and defensible about abandoning stray animals. Shelter them. Nurture them. Love them and they will love and shower all heavens on you, these creatures are innocent beings of love they need to be loved and taken care of. The only ethical response is to strife to end it. Adopt, Love, Shelter Stray animals. They deserve it!
